Frequently Asked Questions

How does therapy work?

This looks different depending on the therapist! The most important factor for positive transformation in therapy is the client - therapist relationship. This means it is super important to me that we are a good fit. I highly recommend interviewing several therapists to see who is the best fit for the work you are looking to do. I offer free 15-minute consultations to all prospective clients.

How long will this take before I feel better?

It varies — which is a wholly unsatisfying answer. It varies widely depending on the client and situation. Sometimes, you may feel worse before you feel better. Therapy often requires facing painful emotions or experiences you have been avoiding. Other times, you may feel better within a few sessions! By starting therapy, you are taking action to create a more fulfilling life for yourself, and only you can decide whether or not that discomfort is worth it. All of my clients would say it absolutely is.

Do you take insurance?

I am not currently paneled with any insurance companies, but I am happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance network for potential reimbursement.

What are your session costs?

Individual therapy sessions cost $140 for a 50 minute session.

Couples therapy sessions cost $160 for a 50 minute session.

Reach out if you are interested in extended session rates. Session fees are due each week and are payable electronically.

What is EFT?

The foundation of my practice is EFT, which stands for Emotionally Focused Therapy. EFT was founded by Sue Johnson and is based heavily in attachment theory as well as experiential therapy. I believe our relationships with ourselves and others are deeply impacted by our earliest experiences of relationship, often within our families. EFT is uniquely focused on emotions and the role they play in healthy relationships, knowing that getting to the “heart of the matter” is key to creating last change.
